Journaling: How to use simple prompts to plan your next steps and solve problems intuitively

Dear diary,

Not so fast.

Using a diary is a useful tool to rant about broken relationships, but it can also be a helpful one to dissect the roots of indecision and take on new projects with clarity.

Here are three of the prompts I have used throughout my time in high school to take on new steps and to break away from energy drainers.

  1. If I had unlimited time and resources, would I still choose this path? Or am I just making this decision because it is more comfortable? It fits in more with the crowd?
  2. If not, then what are some ways I can take this path with my limited time and resources? Think creatively, and don’t be afraid to cut commitments that are not in align with your ideal path.
  3. What does my current schedule look like? Are the tasks I am completing in tune with my ideal path? If not, what are some ways I can minimize the energy draining tasks and take on ones that I am excited to take on?

Remember: It’s not selfish to say no to projects that you will not be able to complete in the future. Often, people want to know that you will be able to take on these activities with full energy and commitment. Trying to force pleasure in a voluntary commitment you hate will only result in unsatisfied results on both sides.

And listen to your intuition! It often will lead you on the best journey.

I hope this gave you the courage to make your next big decision in school and to level up your fascination with your extra-cirriculars and studies.

-xoxo,

Addie
